Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  5. Spoon the batter into a piping bag or a ziplock bag with one corner snipped off, and pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. While the donuts are cooling, prepare the chocolate glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  9. Once the donuts are cool, dip the top side of each donut into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off before placing them back on the wire rack.
  10. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving the donuts.
