Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, honey, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add the melted butter and egg. Mix well until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough begins to form.
  5. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) about 15 minutes before the dough completes its rise.
  8. Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  9. Cover again and let it rise for about 30 minutes, or until it has risen above the rim of the pan.
  10. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
